MWNR Incorporates Technology in Teaching
By: NutrugeeWisawanart (M3/1) & Peerawat Payakkamas (M3/1)
Gone are the days when teachers use chalk and blackboards. Nowadays, modern technology has been a huge part of our lives. In order to keep up with the pace of modern living, MatthayomWatnairong spices up the ordinary rooms with E-teaching facilities.
Most of the classrooms in MatthayomWatnairong School are equipped with computers and projectors. Classes of the English Program and the Mini English Program can be conducted with the use of projectors and access to the internet. The ordinary classrooms we used to have are now called E-classrooms or electronic classrooms.
“It is great! It helps the teachers a lot because we have many sources and references, especially from the internet. We can present our lessons through Microsoft PowerPoint program, use diagrams, movie clips, animations and others. I like it and I think it is very good for the students, too. The most important thing is that it saves time. I may no longer write the notes on the board. I only have to type and use Microsoft PowerPoint to present my lessons to the students.” said Ms. Dalvie Oliveros, a Science teacher who frequently uses the computer and the projector.
“Learning is easier because there will be pictures used to show and to be explained by the teacher. Sometimes, I cannot understand clearly what the teacher is saying so I just read from the PowerPoint presentation what the teacher is discussing,” said Mr. Suphakrit Setthamangkorn, a Matthayom 2/2 student.
The school’s E-classrooms will be used to its full capacity during the second semester of this school year. The teachers will be able to save their lessons through video. Then, they can send it to the school’s server for the students who did not attend the class or would like to review it. The students can also download the video at http://e-class.nairong.ac.th.
The IT Department relies on the students’ support in taking care of these facilities. The E-classrooms will serve its full purpose when students learn to value them.

Two Websites Improve MWNR’S Information Technology
By: Peerawat Payakkamas and NutrugeeWisawanart (M3/1)
MatthayomWatnairong School (MWNR) developed two websites for the improvement of the school’s information technology.
The first site is the http://www.nairong.ac.th, which shows the Thai version of the school’s website. However, since this is an English Program School, the IT Department decided to create a new one in the English language.
This new site is http://www.nairongschool.com, the school’s English counterpart for the website. This site contains all the information in English, so that foreigners who are interested in MWNR will be informed about our school.
Mr. Daryl Davis U. Apas, a Foreign teacher who teaches students in the English Program and the Mini English Program IT, administers and manages the second website. “I am now working on the school’s English website. I already uploaded some information on the internet but there are some parts that I will still have to fix.” He said. Furthermore, he added that the website aim is to provide information about the school, activities, such as requirements of becoming an MWNR student, its tuition fee, the monthly news, announcements, and others.
In the future, this English version of MWNR’s website will be used to store the E-classroom’s teaching data.
